It's my belief that work samples are better, concrete examples of one's "ability to do a job" than an interview or cover letter.

I've included some work samples / programs below for your use and examination. You'll notice that most of my programs/demos are medium to large demos. The reason I spend the time to do this is to show more skill, experience, & maturity as a programmer. It requires a lot more skill to write a decent "medium size or large program" as opposed to a small 1 or 2 screen demo program. Anyone can write really snazzy one screen demos. But if you're a supervisor or Sr programmer, who hires programmers, you know such one screen demos are mostly child's play, with "one or two skills" applied. You take one course and show 1-2 skills.

Since the the programming languages and work demands for today's environment keep changing I've become good in several languages (C#, ASP.Net, VB, Javascript, Access), rather than a Guru in one. And I look forward to learning and conquering the next.
I program for Windows and the Internet.

I'm also a pretty good writer and write good comprehensible documentation. However due to time constraints most all of the samples below are incomplete and have limited or no documentation. Of course really good programs take time. More to come when I get them presentable for uploading (smile).

Hey.. BTW, most of my Programs (mostly the VB/VC/C#) are also much faster than most Microsoft Windows and other large software company applications! I'm sure you can appreciate that (smile).

Any of these programs can be customized or further developed to suit your needs! Enjoy them.

(download both files: Green08a.zip, Green08b.zip ) This sample application has a lot of details, demonstrating some C# skills : graphics, thumbnails, database access (save/edit), SQL, file & folder handling, multi-forms, menus, listboxes, timers, scrollbars, sound, etc.. I use it daily! And you will too. Features include: ability to view And listen to image/picture/html and music files (or lists of files) simultaneously (or scheduled to play every 15-60 minutes, etc. ), Alarm-Clock, Thumbnails, Notes database, Database catalog for image/picture/html/music files & websites, variety of zoom/magnify levels, custom Menu / program launcher, graphic/picture file-type converter, fast internal Multi-Folder Files Browser, nice and fast Document/file Editor (allows editing of formatted rich text files), music player, Internet browser, and many other features ... Also includes moderate Documentation in the form of a Help page. See the program's Help Page (via F1 key) when you start it. It's more complete now with cut/copy/paste, font selection, font colors and sizing, etc. And it automatically reloads all the documents you were working on in the last session. - Find: I've added a Find feature to the Documents Editor. So you can search your Documents, just like in MS-Word. - Notes form correction: Search Filter was not clearing properly in previous version. This has been corrected. - Added Web-page/URL textbox field to allow for easier Internet surfing, when you select an Internet menu option. Before you had to use the Menu to open each web-page. Now you can type in (or cut/paste) a web-page-address/URL at the top of the form (like Internet Explorer). See the program's Help file for further explanations. - Added ability to Search/Filter main Pictures/Music database. - Major modifications/update to the Help page. August 2009: - updated the Readme.htm (quickstart file). - added ability to add, edit, & save Notes in internal database. - updated the Help page which was several months out-of-date.. sorry.) - added code to allow deleting of All "Checked" files from a Scroll-List. May 2009: - Added Lists (auto-scroll/auto-run Lists). The Lists option can be accessed via the menu: Graphics, Auto-Scroll Lists -OR- via the icon "Show Auto-Scroll Lists". These Auto-Scroll Lists allow you to save multiple "Lists" of picture or sound files you want to play continuously. Now in addition to the Database capability added in December for storing your pictures and music Files, you can also save Auto-Scroll/auto-run Lists that can be Played automatically and/or loaded into the Thumbnails page! You already had the ability to check/view just the files you wanted to run/play, but now you can Save these to a List for later playing. And the Lists can be edited or copied to new lists. To combine Lists simply save the files of one List to another List (menu option = "Save all files to New List"), entering name of List to save to. Any file currently being viewed or in the Thumbnails page can be added to any List. - Modified Zoom pad, so you can now click on an icon to zoom to 20% or 50% of original photo size, and zoom to 1x, 2x, 3x. This makes viewing your files at different zoom levels very easy. You still have the Zoom Scale allowing zoom levels of 1x to about 20x (that's pretty big). - During Auto-Scroll a thumbnail for each picture file is now automatically saved to the Thumbnails page. So you can now easily view and navigate to the recently viewed pictures. January 2009: - Currently adding ability to play a song/s every 15 to 60 minutes (very neat). Part of this functionality can now be accessed via the Music Menu. - Improved database save, edit, & refreshing. - Added Thumbnails. - Added Startup Options screen & functionality to save common Folder paths to the Database, so you can retrieve them and fill a file-list with "one click", rather than having to navigate thru a hard-drive tree; also startup picture & music can be edited, and the startup picture & music will show/play when the program starts. - Improved Alarm Clock - better Alarm Time-Editing. - Added ability to save Graphic/Picture files in another Format (jpg, bmp, gif, etc). You can also Batch re-Format files - select several/many files from the Multi-FileBrowser and click "Batch Save in another Format.." from the menu. To select more than one file at a time just hold down the CTRL key while you click/select files. - Added new Multi-FileBrowser, with side by side folders allowing you to Copy or Move files between Folders -- very neat and faster than Windows File Explorer! December 2008: - Added Database capability for storing your pictures and music Files. These files can be played directly from the Database, now, rather than looking them up in one of the File Dialogs or Lists. You no longer have to search your hard-drive. Just view or listen to the file, and click the "Add current Picture/Song.." icon (located at top middle of screen). The Picture/Song will be added to the database, allowing you to save & play it anytime you want from the Database. - I've added Drag & Drop capabilities. So you can now drag/drop a Picture or Music file from the Drop-Down Files-List OR the File-Explorer window to view/listen to it. - A couple of Window Tabs have been consolidated into one Tabbed Window. They were primarily leftovers from a Class Project. All of the functionality is retained. It's just less scattered around. - The Play "only Checked" Music/Songs is now functional. So you can now select/limit the Songs you want to hear, rather than playing All song/music files in the Folder. - The AlarmClock Snooze will now add 10 minutes to the Alarm setting & show the new setting. - The AlarmClock now automatically increases the Alarm's volume; so that if you were previously listening to music at a lower volume and fell asleep (etc), the Alarm will still sound at a level that will wake you up. If you do change the volume, remember to change it from within the program (via Music Bar at bottom of screen or the Music menu). - The AutoScroll "only Checked" pictures is now functional. So you can view a list of pictures in a Folder, and Check mark only the ones you want to scroll/view. Before it would scroll All Pictures in a Folder. You can still scroll/view All Pictures in a Folder. - The Picture Scroller ("AutoScroll", for viewing al Pictures in a Folder) can now be set "before" the "Play all Songs in a Folder" is set. This allows you to auto-scroll a Folder of Pictures AND also listen to all music files in a "different Folder" at the same time! It was previously coded to allow this, but you had to select the Music Folder first, and then the Pictures Folder. Now the order doesnt matter, and you can navigate to any other Folder once you selected and started the Music or Pictures playing. Very nice MTV effect.
Most of these programs require the Microsoft .Net Framework. Most Windows PC systems already have these files installed. If yours doesnt you may download it here: Microsoft .Net Framework

	Visual Basic 5/6

#1: Image Photo Viewer Program - SGLViewer ( ViewerProg1.zip & ViewerProg2.zip, modified/uploaded 6/05/08). This was my favorite VB program for a long time. This is the program I use to use to view and manage my library of graphic/picture files. I now use my newer program Green08 (download above). I wrote this several years ago, but it's look and use are still current. This is still a good little program. You'll need to download both files above (ViewerProg1.zip & ViewerProg2.zip). Free for examination and use, for 100 days; $20 thereafter.
#2: SQLforms A very neat and useful (although dated) database viewer/interrogator and SQL query generator. I made it very user friendly. Free for examination and use. Note that this version works only with Access 97 files. I'll update it and send you the newest version upon request.

Some of the above Visual Basic 6 Samples/Products may require the Visual Basic RunTime. Most Windows PC systems already have these Visual Basic 6 RunTime files installed. If yours doesnt you may download it here: Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime files (VBRun60.exe) This self-extracting executable installs the Microsoft Visual Basic (VB) run-time files. VB runtime files are required by all Visual Basic 5/6 applications, including the above samples!

If you need any of these in a different version of Access let me know and I'll email it to you. I have versions 2007 through 1997! Some of these may be in an older version of Access.

3D Chair Here's an Animated 3D rendering of a reclining chair (the base) I did using Blender, before I built it. The finished chair has arms and cushions.

Web Samples

I guess this unfinished web-site serves as a "sort of web sample". It's really a quickie.
This page was/is just a throw together to "present some skills" to employers/etc, not a complete page (time is money!).
It doesn't have a lot of fancy stuff - basically nice and simple. I can and do code (ASP.Net, advanced JavaScript, advanced HTML, some Java, some Ajax, etc) more complex pages (lots done in class and for research). It just takes time & thought to apply the code & designs to my personal webpage here.
I'll upload some ASP.Net web-page samples when I find a reasonable (and more secure) ASP.Net Server, and have extra time.

NOTES:

1. This is not commercial quality software, but rather sample demos (80-90% complete).
Most are comparable to medium-size, in-house, lets get it up & running type applications.

2. All of these programs have been tested and work well on my system, and should work on your Windows system. If you come across an error, let me know ( greenlamar3020@yahoo.com).

I'm currently working on other useful programs (VC#, ASP.NET, Java, Blender, etc.) and will upload them when they are presentable.

Americans fret about our drop in competition with other countries education-wise, but they dont support their students. Working full-time and going to school is difficult. And getting financial assistance is as hard (complex) as running for Congress. There's no extra time for filling out very lengthy Scholarship or Assistance forms, then finding out you dont qualify for some reason - too complex.
Isn't making A's enough. Come on America. Help students who are making the extra effort to achieve and learn.

of my first Management role (Assistant Manager at very nice Wine Restaurant in upscale neighborhood).
He helped me not only learn how to manage effetively and fairly but also in many other ways,
for which I am forever thankful.
Dr Moomaw, a very good Veterinarian and pleasant man, gave me the
privilege of interning with him for several summers, when I was a
youngster. At the time I thought I wanted to be a Veterinarian (smile).
I remember both of these men with great fondness and respect, and pray that they
live 100-120 healthy happy years (seriously).

of degree (I have 10+ yrs experience and am Honor Student), and 10% for an
