Samples/Products

You'll notice that most of my programs/demos are medium to large demos. The reason I spend the time to do this is to show more skill, experience, & maturity as a programmer. It requires a lot more skill to write a decent large or medium size program as opposed to a small 1, 2, or 3 screen demo program. Anyone can write really snazzy one screen demos.  But if you're a sr programmer or a supervisor who hires the programmers you know such one screen demos are mostly child's play, with "one or two skills" applied.

Since the the programming languages and work demands for today's environment keep changing I've become good in several languages (C#, ASP.Net, VB, Javascript, Access), rather than a Guru in one. And I look forward to learning and conquering the next.
I program for Windows and the Internet.

Most all of the products here are free for examination and use.   More to come when I get them presentable for uploading (smile).
Hey.. BTW, most of my Programs (mostly the VB/VC/C#) are also much faster than most Microsoft Windows  and other large software company applications!   I'm sure you can appreciate that (smile).
Any of them can easily be customized or further developed to suit your needs!   Enjoy them.  Of course a really good program takes time.
I try to program more for functionality and ease of use (however due to time constraints most all of the samples below are incomplete, have limited or no documentation, etc.). I'm  also a pretty good writer and write good comprehensible documentation.

It's my belief that work samples are better, concrete examples of one's "ability to do a job" than an interview or cover letter.

I must have more money...   must have more money...   must have more money...
Why should a programmer with these skills make "less than $10 an hour"?
Come on America, I must have more money!

Offer me $10.50+ and I'm yours.   I dont have a degree, but I am an Honor Student , currently in school (over 100 hours completed - all A's in computer courses taken over past 12 months), have over 10 years experience (see skills) in a variety of Programming Languages, and intermediate to advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office software applications.

Here are some Samples:

VB.Net / VC++.Net / VC#
VC# Net sample #1:     Green0708     Version 0.94 (Beta), updated May 25, 2009.     (download both files: Green0708a.zip, Green0708b.zip )

This application is currently ideally suited for viewing and organizing your image/picture and music files, allowing you to view your pictures "while" listening to music files, setting Alarms, save/run Lists of picture/music files, maintaining Database and Favorites Lists of picture & music files, browsing your hard-drive with fast internal Multi-Folder Files Browser, etc. It can also be used as a Internet Web Browser, and program launcher.
Features include: music player, Picture (graphic file) viewer, database organizer, variety of zoom/magnify levels, ability to view And listen to lists of files simultaneously, clock alarm, files explorer, etc. This program has good functionality, and shows some VC# skills (demo). I use it daily!
It is not complete (BETA) but functional and "very useful". It's faster and more efficient than most Microsoft Windows and other larger vendor programs. Faster means you're more productive. BETA means under development, pre-release program.
Free for examination and use.

VB.Net sample #2:     GreenJan08
This is an unfinished VB.Net program. It has some useful functions, and is an OK indicator of some of my VB.Net skills. I'm much better with VB6 than Net.
Free for examination and use.

Most systems now already have "Visual Basic .NET" Framework/RunTime (files required to run Windows VB.Net applications) files installed.   If yours doesn't you can download it here: Visual Basic .NET

Access

If you need any of these in a different version of Access let me know and I'll email it to you.   I have versions 2007 through 1997!   Some of these may be in an older version of Access.

#1: SecurityMate   Security Administration Database Program.   Free for examination and use, for 100 days; $30 thereafter (minor modifications are free).   You'll need to download and unzip both of the following files to run Security Mate: SecurityMate_Prog.zip & SecurityMate_Data.zip

#2: Sample2e demo   Sample2e.zip
Older but very useful demo with friendly query form, contacts management, reporting, unique Access calculator, database compactor and log.!     Free for examination and use.

Excel
(If you need any of these in a different version of Excel let me know and I'll email it to you.)

Excel sample #1:
Requires these 2 files: File 1 of 2 and File 2 of 2

A sample spreadsheet (GreenSample123Nov07c.xls) that includes: Invoice, Budget calculator, Alarm, and Work Days Calculator.
Free for examination and use.

Visual Basic 5/6

#1:   Image Photo Viewer Program ( ViewerProg1.zip & ViewerProg2.zip,   modified/uploaded 6/05/08).

You must get this one.   This is the program I use to use to view and manage my library of graphic/picture files. I now use my newer program Green0708 (download above). I actually wrote this several years ago, but it's look and use are still current. This is still a very good program. You'll need to download both files above (ViewerProg1.zip & ViewerProg2.zip).
Free for examination and use, for 100 days; $20 thereafter.

#2:   SQLforms
A very neat and useful (although dated) database viewer/interrogator and SQL query generator.   I made it very user friendly.   Free for examination and use.   Note that this version works only with Access 97 files.   I'll update it and send you the newest version upon request.

Visual Basic sample #3:     Accounting Application
(old incomplete BETA; Free for examination and use)

Visual Basic sample #4:     Nice little Clock and Program Launcher (Clock13.zip) v.1.3
(Free for examination and use)

Visual Basic sample #5:     A "little" Drawing program (Drawing2.zip, my first)
(Free for examination and use)

Some of the above Visual Basic 6 Samples/Products may require the Visual Basic RunTime.   Most Windows PC systems already have these Visual Basic 6 RunTime files installed. If yours doesnt you may download it here: Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime files (VBRun60.exe)
This self-extracting executable installs the Microsoft Visual Basic (VB) run-time files. VB runtime files are required by all Visual Basic 5/6 applications, including the above samples!

You can download the "Visual Basic .NET" Framework/RunTime here: Visual Basic .NET

Web Samples

I didn't mean for it to, but I guess this unfinished web-site serves as a sort of web sample.   It's really a quickie.
This page was/is just a throw together to "present some skills" to employers/etc, not a complete page (time is money!).
It doesn't have a lot of fancy stuff - nice and simple.   I can and do code (ASP.Net, advanced HTML and JavaScript, Ajax, etc) more complex pages (mostly for class).  It just takes time & thought to apply the code & designs to my personal webpage here.

NOTES:

I'm currently working on other useful samples, including ASP.NET, VC#, & VC++.NET.

1. This is not commercial quality software, but rather samples (80-90% complete; although some of the above is better than some sold commercial quality software).
These sample applications are comparable to medium-size, in-house, lets get it up & running type applications.

2. All of these programs have been tested and work well on my system, and should work on your Windows system.   If you come across an error, let me know ( greenlamar3020@yahoo.com).

3. The Visual Basic .NET Samples may require the Visual Basic .NET Framework/RunTime. You may download it here: Visual Basic .NET

Logic rules.. that's a fact baby.. Logic rules..           proper Thinking..   right action           proper Thinking..   Logic
Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC)
The father of Logic and Western thought!

"In 335 he founded his own school in Athens, the Lyceum. His intellectual range was vast, covering most of the sciences and many of the arts. He worked in physics, chemistry, biology, zoology, and botany; in psychology, political theory, and ethics; in logic and metaphysics; and in history, literary theory, and rhetoric. He invented the study of formal logic, devising for it a finished system, known as syllogistic, that was considered the sum of the discipline until the 19th century; his work in zoology, both observational and theoretical, also was not surpassed until the 19th century. His ethical and political theory, especially his conception of the ethical virtues and of human flourishing (happiness), continue to exert great influence in philosophical debate." Special Thanks and prayers for Dr Moomaw.
Dr Moomaw, a very good Veterinarian and pleasant man, gave me the
privilege of interning with him for several summers, when I was a
youngster.  At the time I thought I wanted to be a Veterinarian (smile).
I remember him with great fondness and respect, and pray that he
lives 100-120 healthy happy years (seriously).

Ways to improve America
(incomplete list)
Pay Green Lamar what he's worth, and get him married.
A Programmer makes $50 to 80grand per year.   If you deduct 10%-20% for lack
of degree (I have 10+ yrs experience and am current Honor Student), and 5% for an
irrational reason (too short/tall'), then I should still make $42-52k per year.
Increase the size of our Army.
Diversified non-polluting Energy (American produced).
More green space (parks, rivers, lakes).
Put Americans first.
Improve focus on family.
Put financial criminals (corrupt CEO's, etc) in prison.
Improve morals.
(this list is not in order)
